TWO SHOES, ONE WATCH FOR LIFE: THE WAY TO ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

TWO SHOES, ONE WATCH FOR LIFE: THE WAY TO ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

A banker, Mr. Peter Obi, extolled the virtues of miserly living at a public forum in Lagos, Nigeria on April 17, 2017. If Mr. Obi, a successful banker buys two black shoes from Marks and Spencer™ in London and one wrist watch in 17 years from Switzerland. Is he helping the Nigerian economy? The shoe manufacturer at Aba who borrowed money from Obi’s Fidelity Bank will surely default as no one is buying shoes. The wrist watch importer will also be bankrupt.

If Nigerians drank one bottle of orange juice, one bottle of Grand Malt, and one bottle of Hero Beer a year, Peter Obi will not be the billionaire, he is. I hope that there will be security guards at the Next Cash and Carry Mall in Abuja to prevent customers from overspending. That will improve savings and help our economy.

Since Governor Peter Obi is not spending his wealth on frivolities, I hope that he is spending it on charity, schools, hospitals, industries and not on trading by importing goods into the country. Giving one million Naira each to all the secondary schools in Anambra State is less than one month’s security vote that Peter Obi pocketed as a Governor. Has Peter Obi accounted for eight years of Federal Funds meant for local governments in Anambra State? In his eight-year tenure, there was no local government election and his protégé, Willie Obiano, has continued the trend.

A sincere politician will have called for the abolition of the security vote as well as publishing an account of the billions he received in 8 years in security votes whilst Governor of Anambra State. More worrisome is the fact that pictures of Peter Obi wearing different watches in the 17 years emerged shortly after his assertions. Is the family as frugal as the Governor is? Does his wife own one head tie? Because the Governor was a politician, peons were hired to write obfuscating stories about the revelations.

Consumption is the biggest component of the Gross National Product (GNP) of the world’s biggest economy, and Mr. Peter Obi, as a successful banker and businessman, is aware of the above. His false miserly and penny-pinching behavior is his way of pulling wool over the people’s eyes as he aspires to higher office. His only asset is that he is in good health and will not spend half his tenure at Royal Hammersmith Hospital in London or King Fahd’s Hospital in Riyadh. A world standard hospital in Anambra State may be a sincere way to signal his commitment to Nigeria’s development. This will provide employment opportunities as well as good health care to Anambra State and Nigeria.

Nigerian gullibility is legendary. Nigeria is the only country to have had two sick Presidents in eight years. Africastallestman may be the most qualified person to preside over Nigeria as he has been breathing the same oxygen since birth. Efforts to switch him to breathing nitrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide have been unsuccessful. He is watching as the political chess for 2019 unfolds!

  1. Am also watching. This is can be likened to “easier said than done”. When people in glass houses throws stone, they are courting trouble and that is the reason many pictures showing him with assorted wrist watches emerged.
    Nigerian politicians and mouth.

  2. You have said it all wise one, nothing but the facts and truth, the reason why that land remains infertile and contaminated with everything in it! I weep for my country!!

    Job 13:30-32

    1. Only Africastallestman’s enemies will want Africastallestman to breathe nitrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide!
Africastallestman is qualified to manage Nigeria.
Alas, Africastallestman belongs to Africa and not Nigeria.
