Government celebrates legal corruption,
And frowns on illegal corruption.
Illegal corruption gets you a PON (Prisoner of Nigeria),
And imprisonment,
And legal corruption gets you a CON (Commander of Nigeria),
In addition to street namings in your honor.

A minister is jailed for a watch gift,
Illegal corruption.
Jailing Dictator awards choice oil fields to girlfriend and cronies,
Legal corruption.
Recipients of oil blocks do not know what to do with money,
Legal corruption.
Suffering masses steal loaves of bread,
Illegal corruption.

People with oil wells in their backyards but no gasoline,
Steal a few gallons from a gasoline pipeline,
Illegal corruption.
Well-connected are paid billions of dollars in fake oil subsidies,
Legal corruption.
Bunkering of crude oil,
Illegal corruption.
Awarding oil lifting contracts without bidding,
Legal corruption.

Minister with oil in her backyard,
But no oil block allocation,
Decides to get a piece of the pie through commissions,
Illegal corruption.
“Businessman” gives away unearned oil money,
To foreign second rate University,
While Nigerian universities are in a rot,
Legal corruption.
In Nigeria, legal corruption is celebrated.

While illegal corruption may be punishable by imprisonment up to and including death.
