NIGERIA: LEGAL VS ILLEGAL CORRUPTION.
In Nigeria, there is legal corruption,
And there is illegal corruption.
Government celebrates legal corruption,
And frowns on illegal corruption.
Illegal corruption gets you a PON (Prisoner of Nigeria),
And legal corruption gets you a CON (Commander of Nigeria),
In addition to street namings in your honor.
A minister is jailed for a watch gift,
Jailing Dictator awards choice oil fields to girlfriend and cronies,
Recipients of oil blocks do not know what to do with money,
Suffering masses steal loaves of bread,
People with oil wells in their backyards but no gasoline,
Steal a few gallons from a gasoline pipeline,
Well-connected are paid billions of dollars in fake oil subsidies,
Bunkering of crude oil,
Awarding oil lifting contracts without bidding,
Minister with oil in her backyard,
But no oil block allocation,
Decides to get a piece of the pie through commissions,
“Businessman” gives away unearned oil money,
To foreign second rate University,
While Nigerian universities are in a rot,
In Nigeria, legal corruption is celebrated.
While illegal corruption may be punishable by imprisonment up to and including death.
