SOCIAL MEDIA IS TURNING INTO SOCIAL NUISANCE

Social media debuted as an avenue,
For social interaction and social equilibrium.
It’s anonymity and virtually no entry barriers,
Created a level playing field for all.
But for how long?

Social media has metamorphosed, into
Social nuisance and social destabilizer.
Anyone with a smartphone is a news anchor,
Broadcaster, and purveyor of fabricated content.
Content doctored to deceive and destabilize.

Crap, junk, and thrash are disseminated
By supposedly sane individuals.
When challenged, their response is;
“I just forwarded it as received.”
What arrant nonsense?

They would be believable if the same
Characters, forwarded money as received, or
Forwarded gifts as received, to show
Their altruism and generosity towards humanity.
But, will they?

Forwarded as received is not an excuse,
To litter the Internet with cow dung,
Horse manure, and elephant poop,
All in the name of socializing.
Really?

You are what you post or forward.
Doctors now able to diagnose
Mental illnesses and life stressors from posts.
It is the new field of Internet Psychiatry.
Forwarders may be forwarding their brains!

Is there a way out out? Yes.
Annotate forwarded posts.
Do not forward If caption is misleading,
And different from content of post.
Finally, funny to you does not mean funny to everyone.
