INDEPENDENCE.

As Nigeria celebrates 57 years of independence,
From once Great Britain.
It is celebrating 57 years of,
Hausa-Fulani hegemony,
Misgovernance, and ineptitude.

Hegemony with religious undertones.
Hegemony by direct rule,
Abubakar, Murtala, Babangida, Abacha, Yar’Adua, Buhari.
Or indirect rule,
Gowon, Obasanjo, Jonathan.

Born to rule mentality,
Marked by assassinations, Boko Haram, and Fulani herdsmen.
Ironsi, Abiolas, Giwa, Saro-Wiwa are no more,
As Dambazzau hunts down Nnamdi Kanu.
May their souls Rest In Peace.

As Nigeria is breaking to pieces,
No amount of imported armored vehicles,
From Saudi Arabia via Jordan,
Will stifle agitations for freedom.
Things are falling apart.

As the center cannot hold!
