THE CHALLENGES OF FINANCIAL DISPARITY IN DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES

When a political candidate significantly outspends her/ opponent, this cannot truly be characterized as a democratic process?

In a functional democracy, candidate viability should not be contingent upon campaign expenditure levels.

A democratic system should ensure equitable opportunities for all candidates to address and refute inaccurate political advertisements.

Legislative frameworks should categorize the dissemination of false political advertising as criminal offenses.

To ensure a level playing field, campaigns should be supported through public financing initiatives.

Any system falling short of these standards functions as a Monetocracy.
