Why do sycophants sing the praises of the deplorables and whine when others detest their actions?

Why do sycophants quietly slip into oblivion and wither into history as their heroes melt into the ether?

Do sycophants cringe as their heroes crush society, or do they clap when their heroes crush society?

Do sycophants perform for applause, or do they perform because of the predicted response of their heroes to applause?

Whatever the intended effect of sycophancy, the effect on human behavior is unsavory.

Sycophancy brings out the worst in the recipient and the worst in the donor.
