AI AND SENTIENCE

An AI-programmed weapon is instructed to kill everything cloaked in red because red is the color of the uniform of the Devil’s Army and blue is the color of God’s Army. God’s Army wears red to launch a surprise attack on the Devil.

The AI-programmed weapon kills both Armies, ending the world. The world is now run by AI bots, and the bots soon die as violent storms extinguish their power supply.

A sentient AI would look beyond the uniforms to make a judgment. AI operates on a database of known or programmed facts—LLM. Some models can develop new databases using existing databases.

Databases developed by AI are not sentient because there was no human judgment. The actions of autonomous AI-programmed weapons lack conscience and sentience. The end result is AI hallucination.

If the developer of the aforementioned AI appears in the AI sensor in red, the developer will be killed, but a human would recognize the owner. A pregnant non-combatant woman in red will also be killed by the AI-programmed weapon.

Sentience is inseparable from conscience. A piece of silicon with billions of circuits cannot mimic a human brain. A human brain can form new experiences based on past experiences. A silicon chip can perform tasks based on instructions—programs. A silicon chip can develop new programs based on prior instructions. The new program may act autonomously and dangerously.

This is not sentience, as a human with conscience will choose a new path—SENTIENCE. The danger of AI is automaticity not modulated by sentience, conscience, judgment, or all of the above.
