The Igbo have an ancient society,
A society of men—
Men with means,
Men of integrity,
Men who belong to
The Ọzọ society.

Initiation rituals involve—
Oath-taking before a deity,
Marking the tongue with a knife, and
Facial scarifications.
A marked tongue cannot
Utter falsehoods or ignore iniquity.

Can a non-traditionalist become an Ọzọ?
Yes.
Oath-taking is before a generic God
For non-traditionalists,
And a traditional deity for the traditionalists.
The marking of the tongue is unchanged;
It is not a religious act but
An act to ensure truthfulness.

Why a generic God?
Because God has no religion.
The Igbos knew God before
The Jews and the Europeans.
If Igbos can forgo facial scarifications
In the modern initiation rite,
Initiates can also swear to
Any God of their choosing.

The early English monarchs
Were crowned without church rites.
The coronation of modern English Monarchs
Involve rituals performed by
The Anglican Church or Church of England,
A creation of King Henry VIII.

If the English modified their
Ọzọship—Monarchy—to include
The Church of England,
Why can’t the Ọzọ initiation be modified
So initiates can choose their Gods?
This way Atheists, Theists, and Agnostics
Can belong and enjoy the privileges of
Being members of the ancient Ọzọ society.

Current King Charles wanted roles for every faith
At his coronation by the Church of England.
And some crazy Igbos want to
Exclude men of different faiths
From taking the Ọzọ title.
