BASHAR, THE EYE PLUCKER OF SYRIA

Once upon a time
there was a  Syrian dictator
named Hafez al-Assad.

Hafez plucked
the eyes of enemies and
the eyes of anyone
who challenged him.

Hafez plucked
so many eyes that
he developed calluses.

One night while sleeping
in his castle in Damascus
the Devil visited him
and said to Hafez

“Hafez, why, why,
don’t you know
that doctors pluck eyes?”

“Send your son
Bashar to the UK
to become an
eye plucker—Ophthalmologist”

“Bashar, Bashar,
where are you,
you are going to the UK”

“You are going to
study Ophthalmology and
help me pluck the
eyes of our enemies”

Whilst Bashar’s peers
learned how to fix eyes
Bashar specialized in plucking eyes

In the UK
Bashar meet Asma
who used to work
in an eye bank

On his return to Syria
Bashar assisted his father
in plucking the eyes of Syrians.

After the death
of his father, Hafez,
from the fatigue of eye plucking,
Bashar became the Dictator.

As a Dictator
Bashar recruited eye pluckers
from Iran, Russia, and Iraq.

Enemies who escaped
his eye surgeries were
blinded by chlorine or
ammonia gas dropped from the air.

Some of his blinded patients,
blinded only in one eye,
came looking for him.

They wanted to pluck
the eyes of Bashar,
Asma, and their children
but they ran to Russia.

In Russia, Bashar joined
Putin and Koreans who have been
plucking the eyes of Ukrainians.
