WE NEED IGBO MEN/WOMEN OF HONOR

What do you do when the President of your country and the leader of your party, the APC (All Progressive Congress) borrows $30 billion on your behalf, and does not site any single capital project in Igbo land? As Africastallestman was writing this post my pet parrot answered, “regisini” in a bird-like response. Are parrots wiser than the Igbos in the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration? If they do not resign en masse, I guess the answer is Yes!

The construction of the second Niger Bridge has been suspended by the Buhari administration. This bridge is on the main West to East highway and may be the most important bridge in the country. This project initiated by President Goodluck Jonathan was cancelled by President Muhammadu Buhari for reasons best known to him. Currently, heavily overloaded commercial vehicles stand still on this dilapidated bridge built in the 60’s for hours on end. A disaster is imminent. And please Alhaji President, do not send your errand boy, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo to commiserate with the Igbos. He will be booed.

The Igbos pay an unfair burden of the taxes in Nigeria. They pay property taxes in Abuja, Lagos, and indeed in all metropolitan areas of Nigeria. They pay luxury bus taxes, pay police extortion taxes, and bribe taxes to phantom contractors just to enumerate a few. Igbo pay the bulk of excise and value added taxes in Nigeria. The Igbos pay religious taxes to Yoruba churches. There are no Yoruba or Hausa-Fulani merchants plying our highways for the Nigerian police, customs, and road safety commission to extort. The Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis stay put in their states and collect rent from Igbo adventurers. And guess who will be paying the bulk of the tolls when the Buhari Administration introduces tolls on our highways – Igbos.

Consequently, Igbos will pay off the loans and get chaff in return. Still Buhari does not understand why there is an agitation for Biafra? If Buhari does not understand governance, the honorable thing to do, is abscond.

Contracts are awarded to phantom Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani contractors who in turn award them to genuine Igbo contractors after getting a cut of the contract sum. This may explain our decaying infrastructure. You pay the awarding agency, pay the phantom contractor, and there is not enough money to execute the contract.

Buhari has neglected the Igbos in his Federal appointments which runs counter to the Federal Character Principles enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. Africastallestman urges Chris Ngige, Ogbonnaya Onu and other Igbo passengers in the runaway Buhari train to disembark immediately by tendering their resignations. It is the only honorable thing to do before the train derails. Posterity will not be kind on Igbo passengers and betrayers.
