THERE ARE ONLY FIVE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD!
According to the United Nations, there are 196 countries in the world, if Taiwan, The Holy See and Palestine are included. But do we really have more than 5 real countries in the world? The answer is a resounding No! There are only 5 countries – USA, Russia, Britain, France, and China that decide amongst them what happens in the world. They are called the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council or P5. If Russia passes a resolution to invade Nigeria and none of the other four members object through a veto, Nigeria is history.
The resistance to create more countries in the world is baffling as only 5 countries decide the fate of the world. All the members of the P5 possess nuclear weapons. Currently the P5 members are not the best of friends. But who knows, this may change in the future and they may get together and decide to vaporize the rest of the world by nuclear Armageddon. Since 191 countries do not count, I think that 250 or 300 countries excluding the P5 will not change the political landscape! Therefore, let us hold referenda to create more nations. Do not be discouraged by the mayhem in Southern Sudan. The old Sudan is so big that you can fashion ten countries out of it. May be Southern Sudan needs to be broken down into two or more nations to diffuse tensions. I hope that Ban Ki-moon and the UN are listening.
